last summer, i was so lucky to score an internship at umc. in my previous post, i talked about how my anatomy teacher took us to a field trip to texas tech health science center. there we were introduced to a few people. one of them was a lady who was in charge of the opportunities the school offers such as internships, volunteering, and other stuff.
i didn’t remember about her until i was cleaning my room and found her card. i shot her an email, and she responded with a few dates for orientation that were in june. this was my first step into something i wanted to do.
with this internship, i saw so much because i was all over the hospital from the burn unit to the family & birth center. it was a blessing. i met so many people with unique stories, and the staff was nothing but friendly. sadly, my internship was only for a summer, but i got a call if i was interested in coming back. my response: YES!!
check out @scrubpocket! they were so sweet to send these goodies for my internship! they have so many options!
tips for internship:
* check the hospital’s website! they are always looking for interns. if you can’t find information email someone. they will guide you to the correct person.
*be confident in your skills. i’m not going to lie and tell you i am the most confident person because i am not. i am always doubting myself, but at the end of the day you have to remember your goals. if i want something i will do anything in my power to get it. don’t let be your own enemy.
